Deer Creek Golf Club, located in Chicago’s South Suburban Community of University Park, IL, has
everything you are looking for in a golf facility. Strong ownership (and) dedicated professionals who “care,” a
beautifully conditioned golf course & practice area (that challenges even the finest of players) – while allowing
higher handicap -or- novice golfers the opportunity to enjoy their round; a perfect clubhouse setting for any
outing or event; a very active league & tournament calendar; (and) all at a more than reasonable rate structure!
A Brief History
Deer Creek Golf Club opened in 1975. The design and construction are the product of the exceptionally talented golf course architect E. Lawrence Packard. A gentleman who worked with hundreds of golf course “projects” -or- original designs throughout the world – including sites in many European nations, Egypt, and South Korea. Closer to home, Mr. Packard’s construction expertise has touched some of the Midwest’s finest golf facilities – including the wonderful Eagle Ridge GC & Resort in Galena, Illinois, and Homewood, Illinois’ own Calumet Country Club.
The current Deer Creek Golf Course is an (18) hole course with perfectly conditioned poa/bent – tree lined fairways; (55) Count ‘em! sand traps – (large & also in excellent condition); (7) lakes/ponds allowing for some very challenging shots (and) assisting with drainage – (*more on that later) – (5) sets of strategically placed tees (measuring from 5,100 – 6,900+ yards) – allowing all levels of players to enjoy the course; an outstanding (300) yard (60) tee driving range – which includes an adjacent (50) yard short game & sand play practice area; Maybe?! The Region’s most demanding (3) finishing holes -and- rolling “expansive” bent grass greens that are among the finest in all of the Midwest!
Deer Creek GC has (75) well-conditioned golf carts w/ covers & windshields, is well marked for yardages, is extremely outing friendly & has a large scoreboard for your convenience, has a daily beverage cart on the course, pull carts are available, is home to a variety of mixed, women’s, men’s (and) senior leagues; has various programs for junior golfers; pays close attention to pace of play; offers an excellently priced season pass; is open year round; includes information hole lay-out signs on each tee; has replay, senior & junior rates – (including) a “Junior plays FREE rate” after 4:00PM * (with a paying adult on week-days); and thanks to the continuous cart paths, and the well-designed irrigation & drainage systems, the course has not closed (one) day (due to excessive rain) – in at least (10) years!!
The spacious clubhouse at Deer Creek GC is home to “McDuffers” Lounge & Restaurant (also open year round) – serving a full “Pub Grub” menu -and- of course all of your favorite “after round” beverages – a great place to watch golf on TV, relax, and double-check your partners scorecard! The lounge has a connecting banquet room with great views & holds (150+) *Perfect for outings & special events; the full kitchen offers breakfast on Sat. & Sun. (and) dinner on week-day evenings; a large outdoor deck with umbrella-covered tables – just right for “triple-checking” your partners scorecard! And the golf shop inside the clubhouse offers all the “necessities,” and a comfortable spot to view a replay of your video golf lesson(s).
